Pellet is composed of small cylinders of the size of 6 - 12 mm, obtained by subjecting the wood sawdust at very high pressure. The pellet is then a totally natural and economical product: these are the reasons why it has become in recent years one of the most widely used biomass. The pellets are packed in bags of 10-15 kg, space saving, that facilitate transportation. In addition to having a high heating capacity, pellet is extremely light, compact and easy to find. The same is used for domestic purposes, but also for industrial ones: in that case it can be stored in large quantities in silos, ensuring autonomy. Unique Tip: keep the pellets away from sources of moisture to ensure better conservation.
The thermo-chemical and product specifications of pellets far exceed those of wood chips and logs in terms of both quality and uniformity. These include: higher energy content (5.0 kW/Kg compared to 4.4 kW/Kg in wood), lower water content (8% moisture content compared to 50% in wood), and a more even, regular size. These qualities make wood pellets easier to handle and transport, allowing much longer storage periods, with the result that pellets can be commercially distributed over a much wider radius at a more economical price.
